Dyck Decorators was established in 1966 as a premier commercial painting contractor specialising in new-build construction, repainting, and maintenance programs across multiple industries.

Our key value is personal responsibility and we carry that through to every area of work we undertake. This requires a trusting interaction between all suppliers, project managers, subcontractors, and Dyck Decorators team members. 

To work with Dyck Decorators you will need to have the following characteristics:

Personal Responsibility -- not being passive, isolated or too individualistic, or allowing a team member to be that way. We expect you to speak up in meetings and express your concerns by being mature and competent.

Effective--it’s not just about being right. There are multiple solutions to any problem with varying consensuses with each solution. We work out solutions as a team, and review each project using peer to peer review.

We expect creative solutions--this requires brainstorming, and out‐of‐the‐box ideas; no ideas are bad ideas. We create a safe environment that allow for openness, and positive feedback. Each team member has a say to challenge the status quo.

Making a commitment means keeping your word. But often times events are outside of your control – we understand that. We need to keep our lines of communication – therefore a key expectation is not missing your commitments without renegotiating. We all have other work and sometimes emergencies occur. If and when this happens, we want you to renegotiate as soon as you can. This allows for others to replan and renegotiate their own work and keep the project on schedule.

Not being too safe or conservative, and not following the conventional wisdom. For some, this may sound a little crazy, but we find that having too much contingency, safety factor, or designing it because that’s how we did it the last time creates waste. We expect people to talk openly about these issues so that the overall project meets required safety issues and owner requirements.

Not trying to solve in‐depth problems by yourself. As a team player, you affect many others. Communicate your problems so that the whole is optimised.

Know other team players and communicate with them. We are part of a team of trade contractors; if you see a damp spot then there is a structural issue that could impact the sign off of the project. Communicate your information to the project manager.
